Leaving our old space is harder than I expected. These walls have held so much of us: late-night cleanups with paint still on our hands, quiet mornings when the light hit the worktables just right, and the familiar creaks and corners that somehow became part of our routine. In this place we learned each other’s rhythms—who needs silence to focus, who talks through an idea, who always has an extra brush to lend. It’s where nervous beginnings turned into finished pieces, and where “I’m not sure” slowly became “look what I made.” Saying goodbye feels like closing a beloved sketchbook: the pages are full, and that fullness is exactly what makes it emotional to turn to the next one.

There’s grief in leaving what’s known. The old space carries memories you can’t pack into boxes—laughter echoing down the hallway, the comforting chaos of shared projects, the spontaneous conversations that happened because we kept running into each other. We’re not just moving furniture; we’re moving a chapter of our story. It’s natural to feel a tug of sadness for everything that lived here, for the safety of familiarity, and for the version of ourselves who grew inside these rooms.

And yet, right alongside that sadness is something bright: excitement. A new location means new energy, new light, and new possibilities we haven’t even imagined yet. It means fresh walls waiting for color, new nooks that will become favorite gathering spots, and a chance to build on what we’ve already created—only bigger. This move isn’t an ending; it’s a transition, a courageous step into a larger canvas.

What excites me most is the sense of adventure ahead. New experiences are waiting for us—new collaborations, new traditions, and new ways of being together. We’ll meet new people who will add their voices and perspectives to our community, and new friendships will grow from shared curiosity and creativity. There’s something powerful about starting fresh with a group: it invites us to be intentional about how we connect, how we welcome, and how we create.

The new space also means we’ll be able to expand. We’re looking forward to more members—more artists, more helpers, more dreamers—each bringing their own style and spark. With more people comes more ideas, more momentum, and more chances to inspire one another. The community we love won’t disappear when we move; it will multiply.

And of course, the heart of it all remains the art. In our new location, we’re excited to host even more art workshops and art events—hands-on classes, open studios, gallery nights, and gatherings that invite the public into the joy of making. We’ll create opportunities for beginners to feel brave, for experienced artists to stretch, and for everyone to find that rare feeling of being both challenged and supported. The new space will be a place where creativity isn’t just displayed—it’s practiced, shared, and celebrated.

So yes, we leave with heavy hearts. We will miss the comfort of the old space and the memories that live in it. But we also leave with our eyes up, carrying the best of what we built and stepping into what comes next. This move is a promise: that our community will keep growing, our friendships will keep deepening, and our art will keep evolving. We’re closing one door with gratitude—and opening another with hope.

The City of La Habra purchased and renovated a building to serve as the new home of the La Habra Art Association Gallery (Gallery), and the La Habra Women’s Club (Women’s Club). Formerly an electronic repair shop, the renovated space is located at the corner of Euclid and 1st Avenue, behind the La Habra City Hall and near the Children’s Museum and the Phantom Theatre.

Everything Must Go On Sale and $5 Fill-A-Bag event at Members Meeting, Sunday, March 15, 2026

As we prepare to vacate our current gallery by the end of March, we will host an Everything Must Go Sale at our next Members’ Meeting on Sunday, March 15 from 2pm-4pm.

Art books, vintage Walter Foster books, and select art supplies will be available at 50% off already discounted prices. Art magazines and assorted creative materials (including brushes, paints, papers, and ephemera) will be offered through a $5 fill‑a‑bag event.

Songwriting with AI Live Demonstration

At our members’ meeting on Sunday March 15, explore emerging music technology of AI-assisted songwriting with Raoul Pascual. See how AI transforms a feeling, mood, story, or single line into a complete song with lyrics, chords, hooks. Attendees are encouraged to bring a laptop and lyrics for a hands-on songwriting experience.

Let’s make a feast and celebrate

As this will be our final members’ meeting at this location, we invite all members, friends, and art patrons to bring your favorite food or beverages to share as we reminisce special moments and celebrate this special milestone together. This space has been the backdrop for so many cherished memories—exhibits, workshops, classes, karaoke nights, and open music jams. While we say goodbye to a place that has meant so much to us, we do so with excitement and anticipation as we prepare to host larger events and create many more memorable moments in our new home.

The La Habra Art Association Members Exhibit at the Phantom Projects Theatre Community Art Wall was unveiled on Friday, March 7 at a magical, historic ribbon cutting ceremony by the La Habra Chamber of Commerce

It was the opening night of the Phantom Projects Theatre James and the Giant Peach made more memorable by the unveiling of the inaugural exhibit of the La Habra Art Association on the Community Art Wall installed in the theatre. This is the first collaboration of the Association and the Phantom Projects Theatre. The cast of the James and the Giant peach, members of the La Habra City Council, the La Habra Chamber of Commerce, members of the La Habra Art Association were among the crowd to witness the unveiling. Steve Cisneros, founder of the Phantom Projects Theatre and City Council Delwin Lampkin addressed the crowd with inspiring speeches. The event was sponsored by the Corner Bakery Cafe in La Habra. The ribbon cutting ceremony was made possible by the La Habra Chamber of Commerce. The James and the Giant Peach will run until March 16. Phantom Projects Theatre in La Habra is located at 311 S. On March 16, 2pm award winning digital artist Victoria Johnson will open her 5th solo show at the gallery.

The show features a vibrant visual journey through eclectic artscapes. The opening reception will have an art workshop, fun activities, and giveaways.

The ticket includes plated lunch, entertainment, and door prizes. Ad spaces start at $25 for business card size, $50 for 1/4 page, $100 for half page, $200 for full page. Contact lahabraartgallery@gmail.com to purchase ticket and ad space.
